Projects

Projects are suggested, approved, and planned by the participating churches and community partners of GoJax. Project locations vary throughout the city. When you REGISTER for GoJax, you choose which project you want to serve with. Outdoor, indoor, family friendly, and limited mobility opportunities will be available!

2024 Project Descriptions

All Nations Soccer Park Outreach

  • Engage in local missions with people from 100+ nations right here in Jacksonville! Volunteers will help set up and run festival atmosphere with booths, games, etc. in a cookout and outreach for families at Ed Austin Park, followed by collaboration with All Nations Soccer League. Volunteers will provide refreshments for soccer players, taking opportunities cheer on the players, share the Gospel and pray for players. This project takes place in the AFTERNOON from 1-7pm. City Rescue Mission Beautification

  • Volunteers will beautify and improve the safety of the 3-story stairwell at City Rescue Mission by installing new light fixtures, painting, and updating the handrail. Outdoor / Activity Level MODERATEHIGH

Food Pantry

  • Moving and arranging food supplies used in the Jones Road Baptist Church food distribution (twice monthly to 1500-2000 people). This project will enable the pantry to realign its logistics and deliver food in a more efficient manner.  Indoor-Outdoor / Activity Level MODERATEHIGH

Holiday Hill Elementary School Interior Projects

  • Each classroom at Holiday Hill has a wooden dolphin with the teacher’s name on the door.  We will be removing these, repainting them, and updating the names. Indoor / Family Friendly /Activity Level LOW

Holiday Hill Elementary School Playground Shades

  • Replace sunshades on playground benches. Outdoor / Activity Level MODERATEHIGH

Homebound Visitation

  • Volunteers will visit homebound members of Aspire Church for fellowship and prayer. The goal is to bring a smile to faces of those unable to get out and see new faces. Spread some love with joyous hearts. Indoor / Family Friendly /Activity Level LOW

Hope Hub House Help

  • Volunteers will complete home projects (mainly yardwork) for families with a terminally ill parent. Possible tasks include pressure washing driveways, trimming trees and bushes, laying mulch/rocks, etc. Outdoor / Activity Level MODERATEHIGH

Kidz Korner Clothing Ministry

  • Volunteers will help in sorting, boxing, and storing children’s clothing that is distributed to public schools, families in need, and single mothers. Clothing is also distributed to ministry partners Indoor / Family Friendly /Activity Level LOW / Limited Mobility Access

Media Team:

  • Do you have an eye for visual storytelling? This team will divide and conquer to visit every project site to capture photos & videos for a celebration photo & video montage in the coming weeks! Indoor-Outdoor / Activity Level LOW-MODERATE

One More Child Meal Packing & Compassion Room Organizing

  • Join One More Child in packing weekend food for hungry children in Jacksonville. Work on-site at the Jacksonville One More Child headquarters and provide nourishing meals to children. One More Child’s Compassion area provides clothing to children in foster care, single moms, and struggling families. Your help is needed to sort donations that will meet specific needs for the families we serve in our Jacksonville community. Indoor / Activity Level LOW-MODERATE / Limited Mobility Access

Parent’s Day Out with Better Together

  • At Parent’s Day Out we want to help parents in the community enjoy a few hours to themselves to run errands, clean the house, or just have some quiet time to themselves. Children will play games, do crafts, and enjoy a meal, and get some of their energy out. Volunteers will assist in leading or playing games, crafts, and engaging the children for two hours. Crafts, lunch, and games will be provided; just show up ready to play with the kids and make sure they have a great time! Background check required. Prayer Team

  • Praying throughout the day for all projects, project recipients, and volunteers. Indoor / Limited Mobility Access

Prayer Walking – San Marco

  • This project is for volunteers who enjoy building relationships and getting exercise at same time!  By relationships we mean spiritually (with the Lord), internally (within your team of walkers) and externally (with people you meet during your journey). Teams will choose an area (around San Marco, an area of ministry, new apartments, their own neighborhoods, etc.). Door hangers for Aspire Church will be distributed in San Marco neighborhoods, and prayer guides will be provided. Prayer drives (in golf carts) are also encouraged! Preschool Playground Refresh

  • Bless the teachers, children, and families of The Preschool in San Marco by building pretend play storefronts to resemble our very own San Marco Square! Outdoor / Family Friendly /Activity Level MODERATEHIGH

Rally Team

  • Volunteers will help setup refreshments, greet, and check-in volunteers at the GoJax morning rally. Indoor / Activity Level LOW

Senior Apartments Distribution

  • Volunteers will serve our seniors in the north side area of our city with a fully stocked hygiene bag with needed essentials to help meet basic needs and bread items to help with hunger.  Outdoor / Family Friendly / Activity Level LOW-MODERATE

Southside Baseball Association Cleanup

  • As part of the renovations going on at the ballpark, we will work with Youth to Champions to clean out a storage shed and get it ready for baseball season. Outdoor / Family Friendly /Activity Level MODERATEHIGH

Towers Cleanup:

  • Volunteers will assist residents of Towers of Jacksonville with small-moderate DIY jobs (changing lightbulbs, mattress flipping, picture hanging, etc.) Indoor / Physical Activity Level LOW-MODERATE

Visiting Korean War Veterans (on September 28)

  • The Jacksonville Korean War Veterans have a monthly meeting on September 28. Volunteers will serve a Korean meal at this meeting and visit with them. Volunteers would help pick up and set up the food for the meal the food and taking it to the Fleet Reserve and setting it up there for them to eat. While they are eating, pictures of Korea will be shown, and volunteers will have conversation with these men who served in the Korean War but haven’t been back in all these years.
